It’s an exciting opportunity for journalists to really niche themselves and become entrepreneurs. People do indeed want good, reliable reporting and a niche-specific site can often provide deeper, more insightful coverage than you might see in traditional media.

The pessimists will point out potential problems — like the potential for inaccuracy or even the temptation to write in a way that pleases advertisers — but those aren’t new problems.
